I saved my ideal starting game so I wouldn't have to keep restarting to get ideal conditions if I needed to start over. The biggest tip is make sure you have an ideal start: that you are at -20 to start and it doesn't rise for 4 days. Extreme took at least 40 attempts for me, although most were quick restarts, so I'm no expert.
